Home Efficiency Inspection

A home efficiency inspection can be used to verify many items in construction giving hard copy documentation of the conditions inspected.  Ideal to conduct inspection immediately after completion of construction while home or new construction is still under warranty with Building Contractor. Used to pinpoint energy related problems caused by poor design, workmanship, or material failure.

  -   Document and record for future reference areas of concern.
  -   Identify air leakage energy losses.
  -   Reduce heating and cooling energy losses.
  -   Detect poor electrical connection, overloaded circuits and other electrical imbalances.
  -   Locate missing, improperly installed, wet or damaged insulation in walls, floors, and ceilings. Moisture can often lead to mold.

Example: A single room with poor insulation requiring 4000 BTU/h (approx  $68/month electric) to maintain temperature during winter months might be reduce by 40% with proper insulation to 2400 BTU/hr ($41/month electric). This is a saving of $10 to $27 or more  per month for one room by locating, identifying and repairing energy loss problems.  It is typical that with a room or area having energy loss problems, the more expensive to operate electrical space heaters are used.  It is also common to adjust the temperature of the entire home/building to compensate for energy losses in heating or cooling.

Flat Roof, Stucco, and Moisture Inspections
Wet or defective insulation within the roof or wall structure can be detected quickly and accurately.  This allows repairs to be done of the defective area, reducing costs by only replacing and repairing what is needed instead of the entire area.

- Pinpoint water damaged areas quickly.
- Eliminate replacement of the roof and wall areas that are good.
- For non-destructive moisture evaluation.
- Document problems.

 Process Monitoring / Inspections
Detect problems with process equipment and processes.
- Compressors
- Pumps
- Monitor production process temperature
- Cold storage containers
- Trace heating systems
- Pipe blockages
-Check Tank Levels

 Mechanical Inspections
Detect problems in fluid flow, insulation systems, rotating equipment and power transmission.
-Locate misalignment of coupled equipment.
-Minimize downtime.
-Detect poor electrical connection, overloaded circuits and other electrical imbalances.

 Electrical Inspections
Detect poor connections, short circuits, overloads, and other imbalances.
- Locate problems without interrupting service.
- Minimize down time by locating problems quickly.
- Reduce unscheduled power outages.
- Substation Thermography
Sliding and bolted connections
Oil coolant flow
Control cabinet Heaters
Leaking current
Inductive Heating
* Look at hundreds of connections relatively quickly

 Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
A large amount of equipment problems show uncharacteristic thermal signatures, before actual breakdown.  By detecting these "hot spots" with an infrared camera, you can prevent most unscheduled equipment shutdowns.
